WHO: Visit Lauderdale is the official destination marketing organization for Greater Fort Lauderdale and serves as the tourism department for Broward County, Florida. Visit Lauderdale promotes the area’s 31 municipalities to a global audience of leisure and business travelers as the ideal place for Everyone Under the Sun in recognition of the area’s diverse and welcoming community.

WHAT: Greater Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America and Yachting Capital of the World.
Explore 4,000+ eateries, 300+ miles of navigable waterways, eight distinct beaches, a thriving arts and
culture scene, craft breweries, rooftop bars, diving, fishing and other outdoor adventures, world class
shopping and boats, yachts and superyachts moored at the area’s many marinas – all conveniently
located in the center of South Florida. The area is known as one of the top scuba diving and snorkeling
destinations in Florida. Made up of 31 municipalities, the destination boasts more than
37,000 lodging accommodations at a variety of hotels, luxury spa resorts and boutique properties,
reflecting a cosmopolitan vibe.

WHEN: Greater Fort Lauderdale’s climate is tropical with an average year-round temperature of 76°F / 25°C and 3,000 hours of sunshine. Winter temperatures average of 66° F / 19° C, with summer temperatures an average of 84° F / 29° C. January is the coolest month of the year and August is the warmest. The heaviest rainfalls occur during August and September.

WHERE: Greater Fort Lauderdale encompasses 1,197 square miles (766,016 acres), with 24 miles of Atlantic Ocean beach, stretching between Palm Beach County on the northern perimeter and Miami-Dade County on the southern. It has a resident population of over 1.95 million, with over 180,000 residing in Fort Lauderdale, the largest municipality and the seat of county government. Broward County is bounded on the west by 505,600 acres of Everglades (occupying about 2/3 of the county). An extensive Water Taxi service provides fun and efficient transportation for visitors and residents between hotels, restaurants, beaches, bars and attractions.
