TAKE ACTION: Tell Feds SIAT Importance
The International Trade Administration’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) is seeking to renew the SIAT program - the Survey of International Air Travelers research study that provides data about international air travelers. As part of this process, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has published a Federal Register Notice Requesting Comments on the Survey of International Air Travelers (SIAT) Program by July 22, 2024.
Please take the time to submit comments because the OMB will weigh the industry response during their review process.
The SIAT is an ongoing primary research program managed by NTTO and the statistical data gathered about international air travelers, includes information on passenger trip planning, travel patterns, demographics, and spending for two separate populations – non-U.S. residents traveling to the United States and U.S. residents departing from the United States to international destinations.
The SIAT has been conducted on a continuous monthly basis since January 1983. Survey data, which can be used to analyze specific visitor segments, is a source of information for travel planners, marketers, and policymakers. The inbound travel industry needs this data to support the criticality of the industry and the contributions inbound travel makes to the nation's economy.
The program serves as the cornerstone for NTTO’s efforts to assist U.S. businesses to improve their competitiveness and effectiveness in the international travel market. Many state tourism offices and convention and visitors bureaus are dependent upon the program as the source for comparable state and city visitation and international traveler trend information.
Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on July 22, 2024. Access the Federal Register Notice here… FR Document: 2024-11081.
